“ We've been here countless times since moving to the area 4 years ago, it's absolutely one of our regular favorites and we are TOTAL foodies. I'm shocked that the yelp rating isn't better; some of the people reviewing it seem to just be whiners. (update: I just read my OWN past review below... I have no memory of writing it all those years ago... that was back when we were broke, don't come here if you're broke...) Yes, there can be a wait if you go at a popular time (this should tell you the food is great). No, the wait staff isn't here to fawn all over you: Welcome to Boston. We keep coming back eagerly because it's cute, bright (HUGE) windows, and the food is amazing - if you're looking for a cute/fun lunch with friends or an AMAZING weekend brunch, not many other places in Belmont, Watertown, or Arlington will fit the bill as nicely as Vicki Lee's. - Everything is made fresh to order. The fruit in the fruit cups is actually good, even in the winter. - The menu features tasty standbys (on a weekday, do NOT miss their yogurt/fruit/granola parfait; I don't even LIKE this type of thing but I HAVE TO HAVE it when we're here) - But the menu is also updated regularly and seasonally with fresh new ideas or seasonal ingredients. Check out the chilaquiles I scored today! - Their cranberry-orange scones are to DIE for, the only scones I've ever liked. Moist and tangy, SO good. - Daily grain bowls are great - On the weekends, amazing brunch selection. Love their eggs benedict and this place has the only French toast I've ever cared for (they use Italian or French bread with a chewy texture, fresh fruit, and house made whipped cream). Their desserts are to die for but we're usually stuffed. - Even their drink menu always has something fun and new on it. Currently: Brown butter salted caramel mocha (or latte?). But their iced mochas here are what you HAVE to get. They use their own house made chocolate (not sure what it'd be called - thicker than syrup) - be sure to order it WITH whipped cream or it won't come with any. The only thing I wouldn't necessarily recommend here is some of the pastries in the window that I believe are not made in house. But we always get their house made granola to go, and often the beet/blue cheese salad too - SO good. We really love this place. If you're in the area, you won't find a better lunch or Sunday brunch. ”
